Deep Sea Fishing in Mexico's Riviera Nayarit

The Riviera Nayarit and Bahia de Banderas are considered to be amongst the preferred deep sea fishing sites in Mexico.

This is due to the climate and sea conditions, which are always very favorable, as well as the abundance and diversity of species to be found here. Many types of fish are prevalent throughout the whole year, some of which include Pargo, Roosterfish, Sea Bass, Mahi-Mahi, Swordfish and Tuna.

Among other prized species are trophy sailfish, giant tuna and the striped, black and blue Marlin.

Two world records catches have been established here, one for wahoo, and one for a marlin weighing in at 709 pounds (322.2 kilos).

The Riviera Nayarit has now been the host of the International Marlin and Tuna Fishing Tournament for three consecutive years and this annual tournament is establishing the Riviera Nayarit and Bahia de Banderas as a world famous, superior location for sport fishing.

Fishing boats from beach rental pangas to large cruisers can be rented by the hour, half-day and full day. Sport fishing charters are available in many areas including Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerias, La Cruz, Punta Mita, Sayulita, San Francisco and Lo de Marcos, with some charter services offering overnight charters including all meals and sleeping accommodations.
